* Nice And Easy

Released in 1962, recorded in NY, this is vibraphonist Johnny Lytle's 3rd album and one of his early masterpieces. A quintet featuring tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin, pianist Bobby Timmons, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Louis Hayes. This is a rare performance for him. The bluesy and swinging play, featuring young talents like Griffin and Timmons, is a testament to his skill.

"But Not For Me," familiar from Ahmad Jamal and Chet Baker, is electrifying. The -tinged track "322-Wow" has been re-evaluated in the scene in recent years. The cool vibes blend with piano and saxophone, resulting in a sublime ensemble. * The Village Caller!

Released in 1966, his 6th album. A lively quintet with organist Milt Harris, bassist Bob Cranshaw, drummer Peppy Hinnant, and percussionist Willie Rodriguez. "The Village Caller" features Harris's organ and is a gritty .
